Stations often had these Water Cranes at the ends of each platform so that locomotives could replenish their tanks during a journey without having to be uncoupled. The cranes were usually supplied by a large water tank.
This model is based on a Great Western prototype. Also included is a Fire Devil which consists of a coke brazier and a long chimney flue to direct the hot exhaust gases onto the main cast iron pipe. This device would be kept lit in freezing temperatures to maintain water supplied to the locomotives throughout the hard winter months.
Assembly and painting required. Paint and adhesive not included.
